Southwest Turkey Burgers
Serves : 4Comments: This is a modified version of a recipe from Martha Stewart's "Everyday Food".
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 pounds ground turkey (93% lean)
- 2 tablespoons {Roasted Tomatillo Chipotle Salsa}
- 2 ounces grated cheddar or monterey jack cheese
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs with Italian seasoning
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
- 4 hamburger buns
- guacamole or more {Roasted Tomatillo Chipotle Salsa} for topping
Instructions:
Place turkey, salsa, cheese, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl. Mix gently with a fork to combine.
Gently form 4 equal-size patties, about 4 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick. Press thumb in the center of each patty to make an indentation approximately 1/2-inch deep. (This helps to keep the burgers flat during grilling.)
Heat grill to medium high. Oil grates. Season burgers with additional salt and pepper. Grill until cooked throughout, about 5 to 8 minutes per side. Serve on buns with desired toppings.
