Spicy Brown Sugar Bacon

Serves : 3-5

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 10 slices thick-cut bacon

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. (Or you can do 400 degrees and shorten the cooking time to 20 minutes below. The 350 degree method is useful if you are baking something else at the same time.)

Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil. Set a cooling rack inside the prepared pan and set aside.

In a shallow dish, combine the brown sugar, chili powder, and cayenne pepper. Dredge the bacon slices in the brown sugar mixture and arrange the bacon on the rack. Bake in the preheated oven until crisp, about 40 minutes at 350 degrees, turning the pan around half-way through the baking time. Watch the bacon carefully for the last 10 minutes as the sugar can burn. Transfer to a serving plate and serve.
